Most people retire at some point, either by choice or due to health issues. Did you know that some people dread retirement? How is that even possible?
The number one reason people dread retirement is the thought of spending too much time with their spouse or partner. People who dread retirement over concerns about spending too much time with their significant other should seek counseling. Talking about your problems with an impartial third party can help resolve issues that need to be addressed.
Spend some time thinking about what you like to do. What were your hobbies as a child? Did you like to draw or play music or sing or dance or play sports or write stories? The world is full of opportunities and interesting things to do, you just have to find what’s right for you.
You could turn a hobby into a small business, learn a new language, get a part-time job in a totally different field, write a book – the possibilities are endless. If you love your job, you could become a part-time consultant.
If you are not yet retired, now is the time to explore possibilities and discover new interests. It’s the perfect time to lay the groundwork for things you enjoy doing. When you retire, you will be all set to jump right in.
As we get older, we tend to become more set in our ways. The time to do it is now. Make a list of things you like to do and start planning how you are going to do them.
Each of us is unique with our own set of abilities and interests. Take time to explore what you would like to do in retirement and find your passion.
